Dear Vernon Families,
On Monday, July 6th, the Vernon Board of Education approved Dr. Jennifer Hills-Papetti as the New Superintendent of Schools effective August 10, 2026. Dr. Hills-Papetti replaces Dr. Joseph Macary, who became the Superintendent of Schools in Middletown starting today. Dr. Hills-Papetti has been the Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the New London Public Schools for the past 5 years. Previously, she was the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment and Professional Development in New London and prior to that she was the Principal of Pitkin School for the East Hartford Public Schools for five years. Dr. Hills-Papetti started her teaching career in East Harford as a classroom teacher and technology specialist for 14 years. Dr. Hills-Papetti has extensive experience with Curriculum & Instruction, School Governance, and Professional Learning Communities. She received her Doctorate of Education along with her Superintendent and Administrative Certifications from Central CT State University; and her Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Connecticut. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Hills-Papetti to the Vernon Public Schools Leadership Team. Thank you for your continued support during this transitional period.
