❄️ Snowman Family Breakfast 2026 ❄️
The Department of Family, School & Community Partnerships was proud to participate in this year’s Snowman Family Breakfast at Center Road School in Vernon.
It was a beautiful morning filled with connection, community, and joy. Families gathered to enjoy a warm meal, fun activities, music, and meaningful engagement — all centered around strengthening relationships between home, school, and community.
Our team was honored to connect with families, share resources, and continue building bridges that support student success beyond the classroom. Events like this remind us that when schools and families come together, we create stronger, more supportive environments for our children to thrive.
Thank you to KIDSAFE CT, The Village for Families & Children, and all community partners who made this FREE event possible. Collaboration is what makes Vernon stronger.

The BOE Special Meeting (Focus Group) for February 23, 2026 has been cancelled due to the impending storm.

There will be No School tomorrow - Monday, February 23rd for all Vernon Schools due to the weather forecast and impact on travel conditions. Please be safe if you are driving today or tomorrow. Thank you

Dear Vernon Families,
The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Yesterday, Skinner Road School Bus #43 was in an accident with six students on-board and the driver. Five of the students went to area hospitals along with the bus driver. As of today, five of the six students are home with their families. The School and District has been in contact with the families. There is still one student at the hospital. Please keep the students and their families in your thoughts and prayers.
The Vernon Public Schools has started an investigation and are working collaboratively with the Vernon Police Department and First Student Bus Company. In light of this event, I have a personal request for our community… School buses are yellow for a reason – they signify caution when driving near them as they are picking up, transporting, and dropping off students. Please ‘spread the word’ with families and friends about the importance of safe driving, especially around school buses. Together, we can make Vernon a safer place in and out of schools for our children. Thank you for your consideration.
