We will be holding a Mock Car Crash for all 11th and 12th grade students on Thursday, May 29th from 9-10:30am in front of Rockville High School. The event is designed to highlight the dangers of drunk, drugged and distracted driving and to encourage safe decision-making, especially during prom and graduation season.
Please be aware that Loveland Hill Road, from Route 83 to the high school will be closed to all traffic from 7:45 – 11:00am. Please use Old Town Road and the student driveway to access the school.
The scene will take place on Loveland Hill Road and will involve Vernon Police, Fire and EMS services. LifeStar is also scheduled to make an appearance. They will go through the procedure of extricating “victims” from the cars and treating them with proper medical care. The students will also be able to listen and watch as the police officer goes through the field sobriety testing process and the subsequent arrest of the drugged driver. After the mock crash, students will gather in the auditorium to hear staff share personal stories about friends and loved ones who were affected by driving crashes.
