A Mock Car Crash for all 11th and 12th grade students took place, on Thursday, May 29th in front of Rockville High School. The event was designed to highlight the dangers of drunk, drugged and distracted driving and to encourage safe decision-making, especially during prom and graduation season.
The scene took place on Loveland Hill Road and involved Vernon Police, Fire and EMS services. Police, fire and EMS went through the procedure of extricating “victims” from the cars and treating them with proper medical care. The students were also able to listen and watch as the police officer went through the field sobriety testing process and the subsequent arrest of the drugged driver. After the mock crash, students gathered in the auditorium to hear staff share personal stories about friends and loved ones who were affected by driving crashes.
