"The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics. Popular year-round fundraisers include Penguin Plunge, Tip-A-Cop® and Coin Drop events, among others. Annually, a three-day Torch Run takes place every June leading up to the Special Olympics Summer Games. Known honorably as Guardians of the Flame®, law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the Flame of Hope into the Opening Ceremony of local competitions, and into Special Olympics State, Provincial, National, Regional, and World Games. For athletes and officers alike, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is a story of success, love, respect, and commitment between law enforcement officers and Special Olympics athletes."
The VCMS 8th grade band won first place in their division as well as best overall middle school band performance at the 2026 Music in the Parks Festival at Lake Compounce this past Friday!
VCMS 8th graders meet their French penpals! Our 8th-grade French students connected live via Zoom with their penpals from southwest France. After months of exchanging letters—our students writing in French and their penpals writing in English—it was amazing to finally see each other face-to-face!

Ms. Rinaldi’s 7th grade classes created bilingual Earth Day posters to share with their classmates. On each poster, students highlighted the importance of protecting the planet by writing in both English and the target language. They used commands and relevant vocabulary to encourage others to take action, such as reducing waste, conserving water, and caring for the environment. The project gave them a fun way to build language skills while spreading an important message!

The annual VCMS Art Show was on display for all to see in the VCMS Cafeteria last week.It is an amazing collection of exceptional examples of the artwork that is created in both Mrs. Nevins' and Ms. Bronner's classes. Opening night of this Art Show was a wonderful success on Wednesday evening! Students proudly shared their creativity with family, friends, and community members while the makeshift gallery was filled with excitement and appreciation for their work. The exhibit highlighted a wide range of artistic styles, ideas, and techniques, showcasing the imagination and effort our young artists put into their creations. It was a fantastic celebration of student talent and the vibrant art program at our school.
