This year's Family Heritage and International Potluck Dinner was a great success! Students and their families enjoyed a wonderful evening full of food, games, music and culture. Thank you to everyone who helped support this special evening!
Each night in the United States, an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets. We are looking for NEW socks and undergarments of any size to be distributed to local shelters, clothing banks, and outreach programs. Grades 6, 7 & 8 are in competition for the most donations, to win a surprise at the end of the month! Stay tuned for the winner and please reach out to Mrs. Schmitt with any questions (Teresa.schmitt@vernonct.org). Students bring their donations to their Eagle Time Home Rooms in the morning, last day is October 31st!!

VCMS Art Spotlight! "EPOCH Art and Photo & Film class went to the New Britain Museum of American Art today. While there we participated in Gaining S.T.E.A.M.: How do artists use the design process to create art? In this STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) focused tour, students were asked to consider how artists have used problem solving, reasoning, and logic in their artistic processes. For the studio activity, students used problem-solving skills to execute a unique design from inception to creation. The second half of the day was spent in Walnut Hill park on a photography scavenger hunt. Students were asked to take specific photographs of their surroundings which included symmetrical, vertical, horizontal, and frame within a frame compositions. These photographs will be shared with the VCMS community on the video monitors throughout the school. This trip was fully grant funded from the NBMAA."
