Superintendent Dr. Joseph P. Macary and Assistant Superintendent Robert Testa made their traditional tour of the elementary schools Thursday morning to welcome kindergarteners to school and to give each of them a pencil. Dr. Macary and Mr. Testa also visited and welcome new teachers.
“The first day of school is always a great day,” Dr. Macary said. “Everybody is excited and enthusiastic for the new year.”

The first day visits to schools also gives Dr. Macary and Mr. Testa a chance to consult with principals about any issues that crop up.
Students and teachers got to work quickly. Kindergarteners first learned about the school day, cafeteria time, bathroom time and met classmates. And then it was time for reading and other activities.
