This upcoming Friday, October 31st, Lake Street is going pink! Join us in the fight against breast cancer and wear all pink and/or a hat to school. A suggested donation of $1 is encouraged but not required.
This Thursday, October 30th, LSS is having our annual Dress Like A Book Character Day! See photo for all the details. We can't wait to see what everyone dresses as!

This year Lake Street School will again be participating in the annual Bryan Flint Memorial Socktober Collection. This project collects NEW socks and undergarments of any size to be distributed at local shelters, clothing banks, and outreach programs. Each night in the US almost 600,000 people live on the streets. These items are needed by many and often not donated.
Therefore, we at LSS are looking for families to donate NEW socks and undergarments of any size! We will be collecting these items ALL of October. A large donation box will be in the hallway by the main office.
LSS TRUNK OR TREAT IS BACK!
Next Friday, October 17th, join us at Lake Street School for all the trunk or treat fun. PTO is looking for parent, teacher, and staff volunteers to be a part of the "trunk" decorating and candy distribution.

Last week our PTO hosted a book fair and ice cream social! Families, friends, and staff enjoyed delicious ice cream from Friendly's while also having the opportunity to shop the scholastic book fair. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to make the night possible!
A huge thank you to Vernon Mayor, Dan Champagne, for coming to our visit Kindergarten today! Our kindergarten classes are learning about communities and the different professions who help. They were excited to have our own Vernon Mayor read them the book, What Does the Mayor Do?

Lake Street's first PTO meeting is tonight! Don't forget that if each classroom in your child's grade has a parent/family member representative at tonight's meeting, that grade will earn a free recess sometime in September! Hoping to see you there!
Tomorrow is the first Friday of the month! That means it's red and white day! Show your school spirit tomorrow and wear red and white!
Field Day this year was, as always, a huge success! Both K-2 and 3-5 field days were filled with smiles, laughter, sunshine, and teamwork! Thank you to Mr. Johnson for planning all the stations and to all the parent volunteers who make these days possible! Check out these photos of all the fun!
This past Friday our PTO threw an amazing Luau themed Family Fun Night event at Lake Street! From snacks, to raffles, to dancing, the night was filled with wonderful family fun. Thank you to everyone who donated items for the raffles and who helped make this night possible!
The LSS Chorus participated in the Townwide Choral Concert last Wednesday at Rockville High School. All five elementary choirs combined to make a giant choir of 250 singers. They performed challenging two part choral pieces and pop songs. Miss Coe, our UConn intern, returned to play guitar for one piece. Congratulations on a great performance!

Yesterday our 4th and 5th grade band and chorus students performed their spring concert for the whole school! Some band students even decided to do a solo or a duet! We are so proud of all of their hard work.
School Lunch Hero Day is today! We celebrated the amazing Ms. Trish & Miss Kass as they play and important role in our school, providing healthy meals and endless smiles to our LSS students! You both have a PIZZA our hearts!
Third graders have been working hard these past few weeks researching a historical figure for their biography reports. They presented their research in the form of a "wax museum" where they came to life and talked about their accomplishments and obstacles. Thank you to LSS community for supporting our third graders!
Family Fun Night planning is well underway for May 23rd! This year we will have a Luau theme! The night will feature lots of raffles including classroom baskets. This is where we need your help! Please see flyer with additional information.
