Today was the 67th day of school and I'm sure you know what that means! The 6–7 trend made its way through classrooms all over the school. Just another day of making learning fun and engaging at Lake Street School!

Last week we honored CCMC by collecting donations and wearing PJs to school! We are happy to share that we not only raised over $500 to donate but also made hundreds of cheerful cards to send to all the children at CCMC. Thank you to everyone who donated to such an amazing cause.

This Friday, December 5th, is CCMC PJ Day for the Kids!
Students and staff are invited to wear their comfiest pajamas to show support for the brave children receiving care at Connecticut Children’s. Together, we can help raise awareness and funds to make a meaningful difference for families in our community.
If your family would like to contribute, you may send your child to school with money on Friday or our school’s donation page can be found here:

Last week, Friendsgiving 2025 at Lake Street School was such a special morning!
Our K–2 students gathered together to share what they were thankful for, enjoyed time with friends, ate a shared "meal" and celebrated kindness within our school community.
A huge THANK YOU to all of our amazing parent volunteers and families who donated items and helped set up, serve, and support this event. Your time and generosity made it truly wonderful. We are so grateful for you!

On Monday night, fifth graders Auden Tierney and Lucy Verdejo Velasco were joined by their families and teachers Taylor Martone and Stephanie Schipper as they were awarded the Superintendent’s Awards by CAPSS.
Auden and Lucy exemplify the traits of this reward through their leadership, service to others, community involvement, and academic prowess.
Along with their awards, student nominations were shared highlighting many of their contributions to their communities. Below are excerpts from each nomination.
“Auden’s empathy, self-awareness, and thoughtful perspective inspire those around him, reflecting the very best of Lake Street School’s values.”
“Lucy’s enthusiasm, helpful spirit, and deep empathy for others make her a positive role model and a true leader within our school community.”
We are so proud of both of these young leaders!

Today, our school came together to honor the brave Veterans who have served our country. 🇺🇸
We held a special Veterans Day assembly to recognize and celebrate our veteran family members and friends. Following the assembly, veterans, students, and their families enjoyed a breakfast together in appreciation of their service and sacrifice.
Thank you to all who joined us today and to every veteran in our community — we are deeply grateful for your courage, dedication, and love for our country. ❤️💙

A big THANK YOU to everyone who joined our Pink/Hat Day last Friday! We raised approximately $200 for BreastCancer.org — we are so proud of our LSS community!

Lake Street School was filled with book characters today! Take at look at some of these creative, fun, and unique costumes!

This upcoming Friday, October 31st, Lake Street is going pink! Join us in the fight against breast cancer and wear all pink and/or a hat to school. A suggested donation of $1 is encouraged but not required.

This Thursday, October 30th, LSS is having our annual Dress Like A Book Character Day! See photo for all the details. We can't wait to see what everyone dresses as!

**REMINDER** Tomorrow, Monday, October 13th, is Lake Street School's picture day! Come to school ready with smiles!

This year Lake Street School will again be participating in the annual Bryan Flint Memorial Socktober Collection. This project collects NEW socks and undergarments of any size to be distributed at local shelters, clothing banks, and outreach programs. Each night in the US almost 600,000 people live on the streets. These items are needed by many and often not donated.
Therefore, we at LSS are looking for families to donate NEW socks and undergarments of any size! We will be collecting these items ALL of October. A large donation box will be in the hallway by the main office.

LSS TRUNK OR TREAT IS BACK!
Next Friday, October 17th, join us at Lake Street School for all the trunk or treat fun. PTO is looking for parent, teacher, and staff volunteers to be a part of the "trunk" decorating and candy distribution.
