Today we celebrated School Lunch Hero Day by showering two very special members of our school family with love — Miss Trish and Miss Kass!
Every single day, they serve up more than just meals… they bring smiles, kindness, and so much care to our students and staff. From warm greetings in the lunch line to making sure everyone is fed and happy, they truly are heroes in our building!

Tomorrow is May 1st and it is the first Friday of the month. You know what that means, red and white day! Wear your red and white LSS pride to school tomorrow!

We hope to see you there tonight!

Our LSS yearbooks are now on sale!

Spring break might be over, but our kindergarteners jumped right back into learning today as they launched their Planting Seeds of Reading unit!
Students set up their very own “greenhouses” talked about what plants need to grow, and began their lima bean plant observation journal! Stay tuned as they grow their knowledge and plants!

Third graders had an incredible day at the Connecticut Science Center! From hands-on exhibits to real-world science in action, the excitement never stopped. The highlight? Getting to team up with meteorologist Mark Dixon to track a hurricane all the way from Florida to Connecticut—just like real scientists!

Last month, we had our annual Multicultural Family Night at LSS, celebrating our families’ diverse cultures! Students and families enjoyed games from around the world, student-made posters, desserts, and raffles. It was so special seeing our school community come together for an evening of fun and learning!

Today at LSS, our teachers & staff came together to create a special breakfast to celebrate and thank our incredible paraprofessionals for National Paraprofessional Appreciation Day! Each of you are such an important piece of our puzzle—supporting students, lifting up classrooms, and making a difference in countless ways every single day. We are so grateful for your patience, dedication, and care. LSS wouldn’t be the same without you!

As we head into the weekend, both UConn Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams are headed to the FINAL FOUR!
In celebration, we’re having a school wide spirit day on THURSDAY, APRIL 2nd. So wear your UConn and/or Blue & White Colors and your UConn support!

We had an amazing 5th grader, Morgan Beebahkee, in charge today! She stepped into the role of Principal for the Day with Ms. Duenzl and did an outstanding job. They spent the day visiting classrooms, supporting students during lunch, and even made a stop to check in on the adorable 2nd grade ducklings!
Thank you for your leadership, kindness, and enthusiasm—you're a great leader Principal Beebahkee!

Reminder that there is no school this Friday, March 20th!

Bring your family and friends and enjoy a fun evening of Bingo, prizes, and community! We will have two sessions tomorrow, March 12th, in the LSS cafeteria — attend one or both for even more chances to win.
🕔 Session 1: 5:00–6:30
🕖 Session 2: 7:00–8:30
We hope to see many of our LSS families there for a night of fun!

Thanks to grant funding, the CT Science Center visited 5th grade classes today for a lesson and experiment with the 4 major spheres (Geosphere, Biosphere, Hydrosphere, and Atmosphere). This lesson expanded on one of the primary units of Science students have been learning about all year.
Take a look at these scientists today!

Today at LSS, students and staff rocked their blackout spirit wear and enjoyed some cozy flashlight reading around the school. There’s something extra magical about reading a good book in the dark!
