On January 12th, the SRS Student Council attended the annual Elementary Student Leadership Conference hosted by the Connecticut Association of Schools (CAS). This conference provides students in grades 4–6 with a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, including creative problem-solving, communication, decision-making, and productive thinking. It was a fun and engaging day filled with meaningful learning opportunities.

SRS' Robotics Team competed in the First Lego League East of the River Tournament where they received the Innovation Project Runner-Up Award. They then competed in the the next round of the tournament. SRS students demonstrated great teamwork! We're so proud of them!

SRS honored veterans near and far on Veteran's Day this year! We had veterans visit classrooms to share their stories. Second graders zoomed with soldiers serving in Hawaii and Germany. We read books and enjoyed a slideshow of the veterans in our school community. Thank you to the men and women who served and continue to serve our community!
Conneticut Elementary Principal of the Year, Bryan Kerachsky, was honored at the Conneticut Association of Schools' Celebration of School Leadership NIght! This is an incredible achievement. Vernon's Skinner Road School is so lucky to have Mr. K as the leader of their community!
Skinner Road School's Book Character Parade is taking place on Friday, October 31st at 2:30pm! Join in on our love of reading by watching our Book Characters parade around the school!
Trunk or Treat was a spooktacular success! Thank you so much to the SRS PTO for organizing the community event. A special thank you to all of the vendors and families who also participated!
Starry Night was a shining success! The halls were full as students and families visited SRS for Open House! We loved having students not only visit their classroom teachers but travel through the school to visit with specials teachers and support staff!
We can't wait to see our students and families on Wednesday, 9/24, for our Starry Night Open House!
Skinner Road School Marathon Mania is back! The Backyard Marathon Runners started practice this week. They teamed up with the RHS Cross Country team to run around the Unicorn Trail!
Our Farm to School program served up samples of Three Sisters Soup featuring locally grown butternut squash! This hearty dish honors the Indigenous "Three Sisters Planting Method" of growing corn, beans, and squash together—a practice that nourishes both the land and our students. Did your student try it?
