Welcome to the 2nd grade STARS of SRS. This year we will continue to strengthen our skills in reading, math, and writing. 

In Math we will work on mastering our addition and subtraction facts, place value, fractions, time, money, double and triple digit addition and subtraction as well as repeated addition on the road to multiplication.

 In Reading, we will work on gaining a strong reading stamina, learning to respond to books we have read, exploring fairy tales, folktales, fables, fiction and non fiction books. We will strengthen our comprehension skills and use various tools such as story maps, graphic organizers, as well as working  on answering multiple choices questions about books we have read. 

We are excited to be able to use I-ready math and Lexia on chromebooks and ipads in the classroom daily. 

With writing we will develop personal narratives, animal reports, opinion pieces as well as daily free writing opportunities. 

It's going to be a great year in 2nd grade and we are looking forward to a fun filled year.
