Good morning VCMS families,
This is a reminder that families are required to pay for school meals (breakfast and lunch) unless they qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Students can pay for meals by cash or check at the register, or money can be added to their account by visiting www.myschoolbucks.com. Every student has an account tied to their name, and they use a PIN (their student ID number) to receive meals at school. If the student does not have money in their account, their account is charged and reminders will be sent home monthly until the balance is paid.

Breakfast = $2.25 per day
Lunch = $3.50 per day

How do you qualify for free meals at school?

  • Based on your income – you will need to fill out a Meal Application online to find out if you are eligible. Or, you can submit a paper copy to the Food & Nutrition Services Department by sending it to Elizabeth Fisher 30 Park Street, Vernon 06066.
  • If you receive SNAP or TFA benefits – if you or someone in your household receives SNAP benefits, your student is eligible for free meals. If you receive SNAP benefits and are not receiving free meals, please contact Elizabeth Fisher at 860-896-4683 or efisher@vernon-ct.gov. *Some students receiving HUSKY A benefits are eligible, but not all. Please contact Food & Nutrition Services Department to find out if your student is eligible*

Please note that meal applications must be submitted and approved every year. You may apply at any time during the school year.
If you need to check the status of your application or account balance, please contact Elizabeth Fisher at 860-896-4683 or efisher@vernon-ct.gov

Thank you,
Elizabeth Fisher, RDN
Director, Food & Nutrition Services
