World Languages

Mission Statement:   The VCMS World Language Department is invested in cultivating global citizens by:

  • providing the tools to develop effective communication that leads to language proficiency.

  • equipping students with cultural lenses to promote appreciation and understanding of other cultures and linguistic practices.

  • encouraging self-discovery and empowerment to expand their communities and grow as lifelong language learners.

Sixth grade students in Madame Soden’s class made a 3D model of the Palace of Versailles, made out of sugar cubes! Incroyable!

Students in Ms Rinaldi's Spanish classes learn about the Mexican holiday called Day of the Day. Inspired by the tradition of honoring those who have died by building private altars containing the favorite foods and beverages, as well as photos and memorabilia, of the departed, one of our students made an altar to her beloved pet cat!

French Club learned all about art and impressionism!

Students in Madame Damdar’s class made encouraging cards in French for students in Haiti during this difficult time of COVID-19. The 89 cards were hand-delivered to students in the South of Haiti on October 8th.
