Philosophy
No culture exists without some form of visual expression. Visual Arts, together with all fine arts disciplines, shares a fundamental and integral place in the education of all students.

All people have the capability to express and communicate ideas in original and creative ways. A comprehensive visual arts education program provides the means, knowledge and direction to develop this potential for visual communication. Constructing and promoting students’ creative problem solving skills is essential to their achievement, 21st century learning skills and successes in college and career readiness.

The Art Program builds a foundation that sequentially develops students’ visual arts skills and knowledge. It advances students’ critical thinking abilities that enable them to develop an understanding of past and present cultures, understand a relationship between art and other branches of learning, and develops their capacity to reflect, describe, analyze interpret and evaluate their own and others’ work to articulate their ideas. Visual Arts foster awareness, appreciation and enjoyment of culture as enduring throughout our lifetime.
