Good afternoon VCMS Families,
I am pleased to announce that the Vernon Youth Services is sponsoring a special presentation on internet safety for our students and families. The student presentation will be in-person during the school day on February 13th. The presentation for adults only will also be on February 13th but will be held virtually
@ 6:30 PM. As you know, navigating social media and the internet can be tricky and dangerous, so the more knowledgeable we all are the better. Please see the attached flyer for information on the evening event and consider attending if you are available. Enjoy the long weekend!

STARTING JANUARY 3, 2023 RETURN TO PAID MEALS
CRS, LSS, VCMS, and RHS will be returning to PAID meals on January 3, 2023 as state and federal pandemic funding comes to an end. **Maple Street, Northeast, and Skinner Road will continue to receive free meals through June 30, 2023 as part of the Community Eligibility Provision**
More info & Menus are available online: Free and reduced-price school meals are still available to those that qualify.
Families can submit a completed meal application to The Food & Nutrition Services Department at 30 Park Street, Vernon CT 06066.
The meal application will be processed and the family will be notified whether the students do or do not qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Students that are directly certified for free or reduced-price meals through SNAP, TANF, or HUSKY will be notified by letter and do not need to submit an application. Meal applications are available online or at the front desk of your school.

November 24-25 - No School. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
October Information:
October 7 - PTO Ice Cream Social, 5-7PM in the field in the back of VCMS. Ice cream is from Dairy Queen, costs $2, and must be ordered in advance.
October 10 - There is no school in observance of Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples Day.
October 11-14 - Tryouts for Talent show take place this week.
October 13 - Trimester 1 Midterm and UA1 Ends.
September Information:
Welcome back to school! The first day for students is September 1.
There is no school on Labor Day, September 5.
You may order VCMS gear! The deadline is September 7. We have partnered with BSN Sports to provide an easy way to view and order items and have them delivered right to your home. Please use this link to order. We look forward to seeing the VCMS Gear around school and town.
The 6th grade social is on September 6 during the school day.
We will host our first Book Fair from September 12 - 16 in the Auditorium.
Picture Day is September 15. Information will be emailed home.
Team Nights, which include dinner and a chance to meet grade-level teams, will take place on:
9/8 - Team 8A, -

9/19 - Team 7B, -
9/20 - Team 8B, -
Parent-teacher conferences will be on September 29 and 30 and this means those days are early release days.
