Dear RHS Families,
We hope that you had a wonderful summer and that you are beginning to build excitement to start the next chapter in your life at Rockville High School. At RHS, we are very proud to offer all of our students access to a Chromebook laptop computer. The 1:1 Chromebook Program provides countless possibilities of teaching, learning, and developing 21st century skills for all students.
As we start of the school year, RHS wishes to notify families of the plan to rollout Chromebooks to our incoming 9th Grade students and new students without a Chromebook. Distribution of the Chromebooks is expected to occur on September 4, 2019. Before receiving a Chromebook, students and families will have to review a series of informational items. Parents/guardians and students must sign the 1:1 Computer Use Agreement, Acceptable Use Guidelines, and the handbook sign off form. Please return all forms and the insurance program fee (or proof of payment) with your child prior to September 4, 2019 to the administrative offices or the library media center.
Students arriving during their freshman year will pay an insurance fee of $30 for freshman year, or a one-time fee of $95 for all 4 years. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors will pay $30 per year. These fees are nonrefundable. The required fee is to pay for any needed repairs or replacement costs associated with the 1:1 initiative. Insurance fees may be paid with a money order or you can pay through an account at www.myschoolbucks.com. No personal checks or cash will be accepted. Please make money order payable to “Vernon Public Schools Chromebook Insurance” and include your student’s name on the money order.
The 1:1 Computer Use Agreement, Acceptable Use Guidelines, and the Agreement and Election forms may be found on our website. Additionally, please review the complete 1:1 Chromebook policy on our website. Link: https://www.vernonpublicschools.org/rockville-high-school-home/about-us/technology
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and we look forward to continuing to provide devices to our students in order to enhance their educational experience at RHS.
