PTO Update 11/15/2023
Agata Cavar

Hello NES Families!

Last Friday, NES staff and teachers enjoyed the first ever Staff and Teacher Appreciation Caramel Apple Bar - complete with a variety of apples and toppings.  Throughout the school year, the NES PTO looks for creative ways to celebrate our amazing teachers and staff.  The PTO also hosts fun events for students - like an on-site pumpkin patch field trip for Kindergarten students. Pictures from these events are posted on NES PTO webpage

This week, NES families have the opportunity to donate non-perishable food items to local food banks.  November is all about friendship, giving and gratitude!  It's also a month of fun!  Please read on, or visit the NES PTO webpage for more information, upcoming events and deadlines.

NES Supports Local Food Banks with Thanksgiving Food Drive

Please join us by donating non-perishable food items for the NES PTO Thanksgiving Food Drive this week (Nov. 13 - Nov. 17).  We are hoping to make a large impact by helping fill the shelves of local food pantries.  Please see the attached flyer for donation suggestions.

Top Turkey Competition Next Week!!

It's Top Turkey time!  Students can buy paper feathers for 50 cents each this week.  The NES teacher or staff member with the most feathers gets the "honor" of donning the Turkey costume on Wednesday!  Last year, students enjoyed watching Mr. Ryan gobble from class to class.  Who will it be this year?

Multicultural NighEvent Coming Up in February!

The NES PTO is excited to host our first Multicultural Night this coming February. Help us to celebrate Northeast School's unique diversity!  Do you have family roots in France, Indian, China, or Puerto Rico?  Or maybe Greece, Mexico, Pakistan, or Sudan?  Wherever you and your family hail from, we want to learn what makes you YOU!   This promises to be a fantastic, fun event!

There are many ways to participate, such as: 1) Create a display table with maps, trinkets, photos...; 2) Cook your favorite cultural dish; 3) Tell a story, sing a song or perform a dance.  4) Or simply come and enjoy learning more about the cultures of other members of the NES community. We're hoping to have lots of NES students, families, teachers and staff all sharing their heritage for a fantastic event!

Signing up is NOT a huge commitment - families won't be expected to do more than they are comfortable doing.

Click here to fill out an online form - or sign up at your parent teacher conference. If you have any ideas, or suggestions on how to make it great, or you'd just like to help out a little, please contact Asifa Ali at asifalatif@yahoo.com.
