PTO Update 10/29/2024
Agata Cavar

 A big round of applause to all NES families who participated in last week's Penny Wars!  The NES PTO raised more than $400 to help make this Friday's Harvest Dance extra special.

     Read for more details on the Harvest Dance, the results of the Penny Wars, and more!!  And as always, for all kinds of helpful information, please visit the NES PTO webpage.

Black and Orange Day - Thursday, Oct. 31
     NES students, teachers and staff are invited to show their school spirit by wearing orange and black on Thursday, Oct. 31.  What a great way to celebrate the last day of October.

Volunteers Needed for Friday's Harvest Dance
    This Friday, Nov. 1, NES will be transformed into a Harvest Wonderland!  Imagine festive music, a harvest photo booth, games, snacks, escape rooms, a cookie decorating contest, and an extra opportunity to wear costumes (no violent or scary ones, please).  In order to maximize the fun, volunteers and imagineers are needed to help plan, create and staff this special night. Donations of decorations, individually wrapped snacks and bottled beverages/juice boxes will be a help, too. Click here to volunteer to help set up, staff a table, keep an eye on things in the gym, or to donate treats for the Harvest Dance.  See the attached flyer for full details.

Penny Wars Results Announced
     Friday was the final day of penny wars, and NES students all did great! Second grade had a huge sabotage against them of $20 cash, but even without that, there was no way anyone would have caught the grade who ended up in first place. Here are the final standings:
Seventh place:  5th Grade;
Sixth place: 3rd Grade;
Fifth place: 4th Grade;
Fourth place: 1st Grade;
Third place: Kindergarten
Second Place: 2nd Grade; and
First place: Preschool!
     For the first time ever, our youngest grade is the winner! Congratulations Preschool! They brought in more than double the change of the other grades! Preschoolers will enjoy a PJ and Dance Party.
     We'll have one more Penny War this year, so start saving your change up now!  Money earned from this fun-draiser will be used toward the NES PTO Harvest Dance (Friday, Nov. 1) and other fun events.

No School on Tuesday, Nov. 5 - Election Day
     Just a reminder, NES and all Vernon Schools will be closed next Tuesday, Nov. 5 for Election Day.

Next NES PTO Meeting Set for Thursday, Nov. 7
     All NES families are encouraged to attend the next NES PTO meeting, Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m.  Families may join the meeting in the NES library, or attend virtually.   Click here to attend the meeting via Google Meet.  (You will just have to "Knock" to be let into the meeting, much like a zoom waiting room).  Free childcare will be provided in the gym.

NES Family Feedback Needed
The annual school climate survey is now available. Please click here to complete it; it should only take a couple of minutes, and not all questions need to be answered. Your feedback is important!
