Susan Simmons - Librarian

The Maple Street Library is open to students in preschool through grade 5. Each class is scheduled to visit the library on a weekly basis. Our library is a welcoming environment filled with books to satisfy all interests and reading levels. By sharing the joy of reading and supporting the curriculum, our goal is to foster lifelong readers who will want to use library resources to support their learning and engage their imaginations.

Mrs. Simmons' REALLY loves to read! Below is an excerpt from her journal.

Dear Diary of a Wimpy Kid,

After the long Dog Days of summer, it is great to be back to school. Classes visited the library today and students couldn't believe how warm and welcoming it is. There is a varied collection of all types of books everywhere: on shelves, on walls, floor to ceiling. Big Nate wanted to increase his vocabulary and engage his imagination so he browsed the fiction section. Amelia Bedelia wanted to learn about digging Holes and construction, so she browsed the non-fiction section. Because of Winn-Dixie, Judy Moody checked out the wonderful Nutmeg books. It may sound Weird But True, but students get to vote on these books to pick their favorites. Teachers and students will use library resources to research topics for class projects and reports. Coming to the library every week to check out books will be a Hoot!

Oh, the Places You'll Go with the Maple Street Library!
