My name is Mr. Johnson and I am the physical education teacher here at Lake Street School. The physical education program guides students in the process of becoming physically active for a lifetime. Students will to be taught developmentally appropriate lessons that will include a wide variety of movement experiences, the understanding and application of physical fitness as a lifelong endeavor, the acquisition of lifelong leisure activities and the development of social skills and self-concept. At the younger levels, students focus on the development of movement patterns, spatial awareness, locomotor and manipulative skills, tumbling and gymnastics, and many additional skills that enhance their physical fitness. In the higher grades, students apply these skills into cooperative and problem solving activities, team sports, physical fitness and lifetime activities. It is very important to remain active outside of school as well so making fitness a family activity is highly encouraged! As always, it is going to be a fun and active school year.
