Fifth Grade

5th grade at Lake Street School is a safe, caring, community where all children have the opportunity to participate in a challenging curriculum which motivates them to realize their potential as active, life-long learners. In reading and writing, your student will follow a workshop model where students will take charge of their reading and writing lives. All 5th graders will be expected to read a minimum of 30 minutes of “eyes on print” reading a night. We use Common Core's Great Minds as our primary math resource. Throughout the year in social studies, we study the American Revolution. As we study the Revolution, students will study the 13 Colonies, Freedom Trail, Boston Tea Party, Boston Massacre and the Constitution. Our studies conclude with a field trip to Boston!
