Negative Account Balances
Vernon Public Schools ensures that every student is able to eat a full nutritious meal regardless of their account balance. For students that do not have money on their account, the meal will be charged to their account. Students that do not have money in their account will not be allowed to purchase second meals or snacks. Families with negative account balances will be notified by phone, email, and/or letters to the household. It is encouraged that you set up Low Balance Alerts through MySchoolBucks. You can view the Charging Policy for more detail (Policy 3542.2 Business & Non-Instructional Operations).
If you have a negative account, please make a payment to correct your negative balance immediately.
HOW TO PAY: Negative balances can be paid by cash or check and delivered to your child’s school or cafeteria. Make all checks payable to Vernon Public Schools Food & Nutrition Services and write your child’s name on the memo line. You can also add money to your student's account online by visiting www.myschoolbucks.com. Payment plans to pay off existing balances may be set up by contacting the Food & Nutrition Services Department at 860-896-4682.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you cannot pay your bill, you can apply for free or reduced-price meals to see if you qualify. The application process is now available online and only takes a few moments to fill out. All applications for free and reduced-price meals and any related information will be considered strictly confidential and will not be shared outside of the District's school meal programs without prior permission.
